What is the difference between the printing techniques?
Our systems are designed so that we can supply you with a quality range of products with no minimum order, all at great prices. In order to provide you with this range we employ a number of different print techniques.
The main two print methods are Digital and Plot printing. Digital printing is used for white or light coloured garments and gifts. Plot printing can be used for all garments and covers flock, flex, sparkle and glitter.
More detailed information can be found in the faq’s section devoted to each technique.

Why can't I use some print methods on certain products?
In order to offer customers the ability to design online with no minimum order we employ a number of print methods designed to make it as cost effective as possible. As such certain print methods apply to specific items.
-
When I upload an image why is digital the only print option?
Any file that you upload will be in what we call a raster format. Raster images are made up of a large number of pixels in various colours. Because we cannot plot print each pixel we digitally print your design to get the best results. More information can be found in the print techniques section of the frequently asked questions.
-
How long does the print last?
We take great care to make sure that your print is durable. Plot printed items are very durable. Digital print has a slightly shorter life and the colours will fade over long periods of times and multiple washes.
-
What are raster and vector files?
A raster file is made up of pixels and a vector file is made up of curves. Typical examples of raster files include .jpeg; .gif; and .png. Vector files are typically created in programs such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw and are made up of series of curves.

What happens if I need to change the design on something I have ordered?
Unfortunately once we have taken payment or shipped your products you are unable to change the design. All of our systems are automated however if you notice a mistake or error having just submitted your design send an e-mail to customercare@meluba.com straight away and we will do our best to hold the order for you.
-
How do I know if my design is going to print well?
The design you create using the product designer will be representative of what you will receive. Unlike some suppliers we do check each order for basic flaws. For example if you upload a picture that may become pixelated or fuzzy when it goes to print, we will e-mail you before we produce it to make sure you are happy.
Alternatively if you have submitted a complex design but due to the size we believe we will have problems producing a quality design we will let you know. We want you to be delighted when your product arrives so would not let something out that we wouldn’t be happy with ourselves.
-
Why have you e-mailed me saying you can’t print my design?
We check every design that is created before it goes to print. If we see that there is likely to be a problem with the design you created we will inform you before we print it.
There are a number of reasons why this may happen. If your image is pixelated (low quality or resolution), the design too small to manufacture or positioned over a zip or seam we will e-mail to inform you that we cannot print your design.
